Ordering from BassStrings Online? Maybe just me but...

I have called, he took my call WHILE IN HIS CAR AT THE DRIVE THROUGH getting his lunch, he could have let it go to voicemail...
I have met him twice and he is beyond gracious.
He is the Only vendor I will buy strings and things from, possibly for life.
Besides he's got the widest selection and lowest prices on the net.

same here. While I have never had to call...
only place I get my strings from.

I ordered some strings Monday, and another set today because I can't make up my mind about anything :)

Anyway, Bass Strings Online is the only place to buy strings. There's a reason everybody on TalkBass orders from him, and the TB user discount doesn't hurt!

@mmbongo are you being facetious about the TB discount? I just ordered from them and didn't realize there was a discount for TB'ers.

I gotta say, since joining TB with only 1 exception I've ordered all of my strings through BSO and have never been disappointed. I ordered some short scale GHS Pressure Wounds through BSO which took a while, but then again I expected that. I've never read anything about Jason on here to indicate to me that he's anything less than a stand up guy who cares about his customers. He was the first to comment on this thread with a commitment to better communication and that to me speaks volumes.

I expect that this is not the norm for them and did reply to their email saying that I was appreciative of what they are doing now and Jason has responded while I've been ranting here so I definitely feel a lot more comfortable. But, just call it my need for a hug or a warning.

...And yet you went ahead and posted the rant?

Have you ever stopped to think about what it might be like to run a small business like his? Trying to keep hundreds of products in stock from several dozen different manufacturers and fill, pack and ship god knows how many orders a day, communicate with all those customers and try to handle backorders for those products that have sold out? I'm not sure if he has an employee or two to help him, but if he does that brings a whole new wrinkle of complication into things.

Give people a break and go find something real to rant and rave about. Believe it or not there are actual problems in the world. People are dying of starvation, being murdered in wars, suffering from painful diseases, etc... If those things aren't happeining to you, take a moment to appreciate how good you actually have it. Then think about your bass string order and your post.

Not to defend the OP, but your storming is bit too much,he posted on TB not in UNICEF, c'mon :)

I do like BSO and they are usually my go to when I need to order stings, but I have had a similar experience as you. I placed an order and didn't receive any notification that something was out of stock. The order just never came and I didn't get a shipping update. I sent an email asking and they explained the situation and all was right. Hopefully it's not a trend that they don't send any notice that things are out of stock and you're just left waiting for a few weeks with no communication coming from their side. I've also had two other situations that took orders 8 and 12 days to ship. No big deal and I'll continue to order from BSO.

Same here. Ordered two sets of Sunbeams - 5 (130's). Waited, no confirmation, waited, then called....turns out they had to order them, out of stock, then DR sent wrong strings, so they were waiting for next shipment. Was nice to me when I called. When they were finally shipped, they gave me a tracking number, but Cali to PA is 5 days USPS. Was too long to wait, but when arrived, got those puppies on and ready for this weekend. But understandably I too was left waiting for anything via email about my order.

Been ordering from BSO since they opened I think. Great deals and Jason is a great guy. Human error exists everywhere humans do. So things can and do happen. It's how it is handled after the issue comes up that matters most to me. I've dealt with several stores who make mistakes but cannot seem or care to fix. Those stores never get my business again.

I've had a bump with the inventory system(but I order a ridiculous amount of stuff from them, basically my whole rig). But a message has it fixed pretty much instantly. And I'm talking two of maybe 50 or more orders that were a few days slow. I'm not sure at the point. Might be over 100 by now.

I haven't found customer service here locally that is anywhere near what Jason provides. Greg over at Rocket Music is about the only guy I've found comparable and he's not local either.

All this adds up to me ordering everything I can from BSO. Including a custom Spector. It's truly my go to bass store.

If there is an advantage to buying elsewhere, let me know what is is.

They advantage for me is haveing a working relationship with the place I buy a lot of gear from.

I can call and get advice from the person who has the product in their hands and knows generally what I like. Fair prices, good people and great advice. That matters a lot to me.
