Oregon Bassist's Club!

Fellow Oregonian TBers...

I may be looking for a small head or combo in a few weeks.. don't know if it's appropriate to mention here (as opposed to Classifieds) except I'd like to meet local bassists and check out their gear, and I'm not driving to Florida to do it. ;)

Since I hadn't played in a few years, I traded my SWR 350x and Aguilar GS112 to GC for a Seagull Entourage acoustic-- I've been playing guitar more frequently. Now I'm starting to play my MTD K5 a bit more and I'm looking for something from Eden or Markbass or ?

Anyway, I mainly wanted to post HERE for my first-in-a-long-time post. Hi.

Hi All! Just saw "Oregon Bassists" in someone's signature! How cool!

I live in Wilsonville - could I have a number?

Just a hobbyist - I own an SX 5 string fretless jazz bass and an 1989 Epiphone Power Bass, (PJ), with Seymour Duncan Bassline Quarter Pounds. Just love to make booming noises.

Thanks!

Walter

Love my avatar. Yours is great too.

Thanks for number 55, I'm 54 years old, but that's ok, it will be the perfect number next year.

I just went to GC in Keizer and ALMOST walked out with a new red tortoise pick guard for my jazz. I think it would go great on the kind of turquoise metallic blue of my SX.

Actually I've been on and posting, just didn't notice this thread had had an update. I think I saw your post and meant to put you in and then got busy and forgot.

List is updated and you are officially #55. :D

Technically anyone has the authority to hand out numbers, I just took it upon myself to do it because no one else was at the time.

I have a couple things today:

1) If you find yourself at the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] this Saturday, The Boomers are playing on the main stage from 5:00 - 8:00. Stop on in and say hello!

2) This Saturday will be the last gig with my Lakland 55-02. I just don't play it enough to justify keeping it. I have had it for not quite two years. It's in like-new condition with new DR strings and a case. I think I have actually played it maybe 20 times in 22 months. Red burst finish with maple fingerboard. I have pics if you want. I want to offer it in here first before I have to ship it somewhere across the country. Asking $1050. Lemme know.
Reason for selling? I have come so accustom to the string spacing of my 4-string Jazz, I make lots of mistakes with the Lakland! I don't have the time to practice like I'd like, so I am sticking with what works for me. The 55-02 is a nice bass. It needs a home where someone will use it.

Oh yeah, and thanks for the number! Woo hoo!

Here are my current basses - an old Epi Power Bass which I have Basslines Quarter Pounds installed in; and an SX 5 string fretless with active MEC's installed. I love them both like they cost thousands.

Getting a red tortoise pick guard from china for the SX in a month or so... <sigh> its been ordered, that's just the shipping time. I hope it at least fits.
