Orville Thunderbirds

Anyone out there know the going rate for an Orville (by Gibson) Thunderbird bass. These are the licensed replicas made and sold in Japan.

Looking at picking one up at the local guitar shop. The only differences I can tell are a set neck and chrome hardware. This one has quite a bit of wear and tear, but other than cosmetic, it seems great.

Any thoughts?

I saw one for sale on ebay a while ago. Seller was trying for 850...don't think there were any takers...

...looks to be an all right bass, if the price is right. Remember, an Orville is not Gibson...it's not even an Epi...and it's not made in USA. As imports go, the new Epi pro (a bona-fide neck-thru) will go around 500 when it arrives in a couple of months, if all the scuttlebutt is to be believed. If that's any guide for you...

They're actually a nice bass, the set neck will give it a tighter darker sound than a Gibson. Being made in Japan it should have pretty nice quality, definately a step up from the current Epi, from the cache standpoint alone its cool bass!
