Okay so for as long as I can remember I have gassed for an ampeg v4b ever since I nearly had my hands on one a few years ago. My current setup is a sansamp bass driver pedal, ampeg svt-215, and gk backline 600 and a fender reggie hamilton jazz bass. The only reason I have kept the gk head is the power has been what I needed (playing in front of 200-300 people MAX) and with the help of the sansamp, I can get what I feel is the perfect tone, for me.

Anyways, I have recently stumbled upon an ampeg V4 head and matching cab, in great working condition for about the price my rig would sell for, I just dont know if pull the trigger on it or keep my current set up. I love the sound of tubes but have yet to try it out and am worried the wattage might be lacking for what im used to. Any suggestions?

Get it if you want it. I used to play in metal bands with a V4B and 810. It won't get super loud, but it should be enough for most gigs provided your band isn't out to kill small animals. I have a Sansamp VT pedal and it's really close tonally, but that doesn't stop me from dragging out the Ampegs because there's just something about them you can't get anywhere else.
