Overdrive Help

Those other pedals sound cool but I was just curious if the pedal could get into that territory. I'm still looking for a lower gain pedal to use as an always on kind of effect. I was going to get a separate pedal for higher gain to put just before the lower gain pedal that will interact well when driving into the lower gain. That's why I was asking if the barbershop or blueberry etc stacked well with other dirt pedals. It's why I was condidering maybe getting the xotic as well as a blueberry or barbershop etc. Or maybe even an OCD. I want to be able to cover both sides of dirt.

You probably want the Barbershop, as it's the most transparent. Personally, I think the OCD is one of the worst pedals I've ever owned. That thing sounded awful.

OCD v3 is supposed to be the one that does what people rave about. Current model is v4, with updated models like .1, .2, .3, etc. True v3's are very rare and when they come up, they are pricey.

Drive/Overdrive/Gain pedals are one of the holy grails of bassdom. Too many choices, too many threads to search in. There really is not substitute for trying some with your rig and playing style. Many new ones come with a trial period, or you could look at used ones here and flip the ones you don't like. But it is very unlikely you will like the first one you buy. Just too many variables.

Different strokes. I love the OCD circuit. I believe mine is a V4. It loses a little bass but I put it right back in with an EQ.

I also have a Demon King but the box is huge so it doesn't get used very often at gigs.
My SA OFD is dialed in on one side to sound like an OCD too.

Can't the xotic bb get into OCD territory? Geezer butler esque.

...based on the UK requirement, i looked at Bass Direct, and I saw they have the Aguilar Agro, and the demo here shows some nice overdrive, but gets to a place i don't think you want at higher gain settings.

OP, did you already consider this when making your original list?

I agree 100% with MonsterThompson.
The video is in Spanish but you can hear what the agro capable is.

as long as we are going off the reservation, let's pop the Brimstone into the mix :)

mild OD at 2:20

tweak your way into tons of tones with the crossover controls. it's a long vid, but the features are many.

Monsterthompson i thing i found my "holy grail" pedal:woot:
Thank you so much for that link.I was never see that video before.Oh my....
So much versatility. And it's OD and Distortion the same time. This is the tightest bottom end from any pedal i was aware of.And no fizz at all...

Thank you so much!!!!

The OCD is great, and has some nasty drive onboard. It was one of my favourite drive tones when I had it (and I had a V4 too). It was the low end loss that led me to flip it. I've not tried a Fuzzrocious Oh See Demon, but apparently they are supposed to be much better with the low end. There definitely are more than a few people that use it though as is and are happy with it. @gregmon79 is a big OCD fan, for example.

Ok:

BB: Black Sabbath - Warning

Blueberry: Wolfmother - Where Eagles Have Been

Yeah both sound awesome. Both are basically what I'm looking for. I'm almost sure I'll pick up a BB. It's just deciding between the blueberry and barbershop for now. Or maybe even the pork loin still. I'm heading to Denmark street today to try a couple of things.
