Overdrive pedal that keeps the lowend

the Fuzzrocious DemonKing is my favorite OD. Same as the OhSeeDemon with a gate and feedback loop. I'm also really interested in the MXR OD with blend,bass and treble knobs. I have a feeling thats gonna be a popular pedal around here. Should be out soon.

Xotic Effects X Blender. Fantastic blend pedal allows you mix in your original bass tone with any group of effects you can think of. Even has a phase reversal switch on it for certain pedals that mess with your tone.

This blend pedal will allow you to use ANY pedal out there and not lose a drop of low end. Very EASY to operate.

yes - agreed. I would either use an EBS ValveDrive and nothing else (for this purpose) - or use the X Blender.

Two paths to take here -

1) Get a pedal with clean blend but also prepare yourself for the fact that clean blend isn't a tool to retain low end in overdrive. It's a tool to retain your original signal along with overdrive. Sounds obvious to suggest but i learned that it wasnt the sound in my head. Most people like that tone. I'm not really a fan.

2) Get an EBS Valvedrive. It creates a huge overdrive tone and sounds more like you have changed to a different amp and cab.

Both of my overdrives have gobs of low end: Swell B-pro and Fuzzrocious Dark Driving. The Swell actually adds more low end (and warm, tubey goodness) when used on the lower gain settings I find.

I don't have the low end loss problem at all with my ODB-3. I have the balance(blend) knob at 9 o'clock, gain at slightly above 10 o'clock, treble at noon and the bass just above noon. Sounds really good. With my VT-Bass pedal after it, it's crushing. Tons of left over low end if I wanted it. Definitely try playing with the balance knob if you haven't already.

I've been using the Boss ODB-3. It has decent sound, nothing mindblowing but good. Problem I'm having is everytime I engage it I'm told the bass sounds thin with it. I dont notice any difference onstage, but apparently coming through the pa I lose some bottom end.
Any clues on why this might be and how to solve it...Also, what are some good overdrive pedals that wont lose the low end?

Tried turning up the bass level on the EQ?

Nothing against anyone in particular here and this site is full of excellent advice but I feel like a lot of you guys need to work on your troubleshooting skills! Always start with the simplest and easiest thing first and move on from there. The guy has a loss of low-end coming through a PA which should be fixed by a simple turn of the bass knob on the odb-3. If not then sure, lets redo his whole rig. But until then, relax.

As far as an overdrive that keeps the low-end, I'm partial to the Tech 21 products. I DO NOT recommend a Darkglass B3K if loss of low-end is a concern. This one's an excellent overdrive and distortion pedal but it definitely drops out a little bass. It does make up for it in overall tone but it all depends on what you want/need.

Very versatile---lots of control over how much overdrive, very responsive, no problem with loss of lows (you can dial in MORE lows than you need)--a stellar pedal IMHO.

Totally. Experiment with the blend knob and the built-in EQ. That's all I've ever done. It's why they're there.

Yeah the ODB-3 is pretty good about keeping low end & really good with the Wampler mod..... but the ODB-3 is def better with a dry blend. You might be surprised how much better.
In my experience all dirt pedals on bass are better blended with a blend pedal even if they have a blend on them

Yeah the ODB-3 is pretty good about keeping low end & really good with the Wampler mod..... but the ODB-3 is def better with a dry blend. You might be surprised how much better.

I've found that my Way Huge Green Rhino (for my guitard) is the best Overdrive for my bass as well. The two sweepable frequency knobs allows me to dial in the low in my bass signal and when I hit the button, wow, does it go.

I realize that guitar pedals are frowned upon in the bass world but I've also found that about half of my guitar pedals work great on bass. The other half, well not so much!

I couldn't disagree with this more. While it may not be the voicing that the OP is looking for it certainly doesn't want for low end. It's still the best sounding overdrive I've ever played fwiw.

ODB-3 has blend knob and bass and treble eq, there should be no problem getting bass out of this pedal.
I never liked the overdrive on it but I used it completely dry with bass turned up for a bass boost pedal.

Don't wanna get into a p$&*$@% match with you but I've read a lot posts sharing my same thoughts. There is definitely no low-end boost - the builder can explain better than I but I believe it's akin to a passive eq...so it's physically impossible to have a bass boost.

I'm not arguing the sweetness of the pedal, just the low-end bit.
