BDDI was great at the time. Not so much overhyped as been bypassed by much better options nowadays.

Barbershop - I agree.

For me - all bass dirt. I want to love it, but I just don't.

So what's your current sub for the BDDI?, not the Noble of course

Boooo. The BDDI is a staple. I wouldn't call it "hyped". It's just good, at least the V2.

While not everybody's favorite, it has almost become the gold standard by which others are compared. I also consider it a "safe" purchase for those who never used a character pedal. I don't think they're still being manufactured…we're just constantly re-shuffling the thousands currently in circulation.

The BDDIv2 is definitely still being made. I don't think it's overhyped. I agree it's a safe purchase and a good starting place. I've recently supplanted it with a Para Driver v2. I don't think it's overhyped either.

I don't necessarily think pedals are themselves overhyped - what gets me is how EVERYONE is using the same 2-4 pedals. The worship crowd is the worst: Noble, Helix Stomp, Cali76, EHX BMS, and an old OC2.

I couldn't find a single bad thing written about the Spaceman Saturn VI as a transparent, subtle OD. I tried it out, and it was unusable with my band due to extreme compression, even at low gain levels. Also the supposedly "flat" sound definitely neutered out some midrange detail in my sound. I've been down a pretty long rabbit hole of "always on" OD pedals, and the Spaceman was my least favorite of them all.

I should also mention that I'm not a fan of Ampeg and I play super hot active Euro's so maybe I'm an edge case bassist.

Of your OP list I'm happy to play without 4 of them. The Sex Drive isn't really a bass pedal AND the "drive" name is misleading because it's just a boost. But it's far and away the best boost I've ever used for bass or guitar and I've got 2, one stays on my guitar rig.

There's no "best" anything.

But if you're looking, some of those on your list are in the TB classifieds every day and some aren't.

My overhyped pedal all time is Klon Centaur and ANY of the hundreds of copies. But people love them. Go get it.

The stewmac version of the KLON is dead perfect. I've been building them for some very picky clients who tour on the reg , nuthin but smiles.

the V1 was like that. The V2 is way more musical and refined. Lows are huge still, but better defined and not muddy.

I could not say that Noble is overpriced or overhyped because I have never tried it.

However, few effects that I did tried and that I can say are overhyped or overpriced are:
-Darkglass Adam - overpriced
-Almost every Sans Amp - overhyped
-Boss OC-2 - overhyped
-Big muf - overhyped

This has literally never happened to me. Last time I didn't have some kind of 'stache, I was under 20 and was pre '85 at least.
