Overpriced?

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I've been to this guy's shop before and made him an offer on this thing. It isn't pretty, and it's missing most of the stock parts, and it's been butchered for a Precision neck pickup.

I figured it might be a fun restoration project, so I offered $800. He said "no way, it's worth way more than that."

Anyone think this thing is worth more than that?

I think $800 was a gift.

A damn generous gift. That bass has been severely routed, does not have the original pickup, and is in shabby overall condition. I wouldn't give him $300 for that thing.

Consider this . A flash, original '73 Precision with case candy for $1,999. Now consider that that guy in GA wants the same dough for that p.o.s.???

No way. about the only thing that thing has going for it is the neck (possibly). With the routing and the fact it's in such terrible shape and lack of original parts, I don't see it getting anything near that price. I wouldn't even get close to $800 for it.

I have seen people locally try to get $800 for necks from that era, they are dreaming. That also looks like a craigslist add, I would flag his ass for trying to get free advertising. At least that what we do up here in MN.
