At that point amp head becomes an issue.

Since you're already thinking in terms of Phil Jones and a C2, have you considered getting a Cub? It's basically a C2 with a built-in 100W/110W/120W amp, depending on the model. Then you wouldn't have to worry about spending the money on a separate head, and it will be just as portable and packable as a C2 would be. You could even gig with it, as it has an XLR out for easy board hookup. (I have one, and I have gigged with it a couple times.)

If you will need to sell in a year to move back home, I would just invest in a headphone Amp until you are home, then buy what will serve your needs.

YeH.

Get a small 4 channel mixer.

Very cheap. Make the best practice amps. You plug in your Bass. Plug in a computer. Headphones. It truly is the ultimate practice amp.

Buy an amp when you get home. If you’re not in a band. Don’t look to be in one till you get “homeland”. Can’t take it home because of cost. Just get the mixer. Headphones. You’re in school so you gotta have a computer with internet. Use what you got to your best ability.
