P.A. Speaker options?

ok so I have a pretty good set-up for both my guitar and bass but sold a lot of my P.A. gear. so I wanted to get a little better/newer gear for my P.A.

I still have the mixer and 1 amp, I wanted to add another amp (for sub) but also would need more speakers (as that was the main thing I sold). so what I wanted build my own speaker cabs and wanted to see what brand speakers you guys thought I should load into them.

I would be looking for 1-4 ohm "sub" box, I'm thinking 2-18" @ 8 ohm subs but not sure what brand. they need to take somewhere at about 700 watts each or 1400 total.

and also 2-8 ohm full range cabs, not sure what speaker set-up I would use but it need to take about 150 watts each cab.

also where is the best place to buy the speakers?

Unless you know a lot about speaker cabinet design, I'd suggest you look into some of Bill Fitzmaurice's designs. I'm sure he can give you some solid advice about what drivers to use. If you don't know much about cabinet design, you'll probably end up with something that sounds worse than Carvin.

Depending on how much money you want to spend, I currently have some EAW JFX 590 mains and SBX 220 subs plus QSC PLX amps (two 2402s and one 3402) for sale. The subs each get their own PLX 2402, and they kick major butt. It's a chunk of money, but worth it. PM me if interested. I just dropped the price $1K.

While I don't anything about speaker design, I know that cabinets are tuned for certain drivers. If you don't have this knowledge and ability at the very least, you are probably not going to get a good result.

If you are set on building your own, I agree with Munji - check out Bill's designs.

regardless of what I may or may not know please keep to the subject, speaker brands and where to get them? that's all I need, you have no idea what my skill levels are or what abilities I may have. so just because YOU CAN'T do something doesn't mean no one can!

I want to know what brand speakers I should look into getting so the cabinets can be designed for that exact speaker, each manufacture will have recommended specs to follow.
