Here is my new baby! Ibanez '81 Blazer. Any chance that you guys can guess what those PUPs are just by looking at the covers? I know they are not the original. And I do have an Ibanez Roadstar II but I gots no pics so no bass.

1. 1962 Fender P Bass pickups
2. Wiring changed to original 1962 wiring diagram and cap
3. DiMarzio 250k pots
4. Black pickguard and screws
5. DR Black Beauty Strings
6. Chrome bridge and pickup covers
7. Jazz neck

You're all making me terribly impatient for mine to finish. It was supposed to be finished tomorrow-ish (the pickup covers/thumb rest should arrive tomorrow), but I spontaneously ordered a Big D varitone for it. It's gonna look and sound so cool... (she already sounds great, though.)

My Ps are both finally done, if you wanna see em, they're in my sig! I love em.

They're both truly beautiful. They remind me a bit of my set up! My P has a maple board, but it's a '75 Jazz reissue (I prefer narrower necks) and it's almost a reverse of yours (black on pearloid). I've got a PJ with an EMG P and SD Vintage Hot J (To balance out the output of the EMG) in my Ibanez Soundgear (the upper-end model.) It wasn't fretless originally, so now that it is, it still has the inlays and "fretlines" (sort of, mostly from the epoxy filling), which is helpful for a non-native fretless player like me.

Again, I'll post a picture of Liesl (my franken-P) sometime early next week, I wager. Also, while I tried to be closer to spec for the '57 P bass part of my project, my thumbrest is in the '60s position (above the strings) for sentimental reasons. I learned on a '70s Profile piece-of-a-firewood P, and it had a thumb rest, which I loved. Took me forever to get used to not having it, so my new bass "remembers the old days." I haven't had a P bass for about 9 years due to the lemon Mexi Fender P I had as the first bass I bought myself that turned me off Ps for a long while. Now I'm back on 'em, and lovin' the sound.

Rex - 2003 MiM Fender
All i've done so far is cleaned it up, given it a setup & Schaller 'locks.
I'd like to change the 'pup to something abit meatier,
but first things first...

What colour am i changing the pickguard to? Tortoise or black pearl?

2009 Highway 1, wine red. Got friends to sign and draw on the pickguard, thought it would be a cool thing to have years from now after highschool. Gonna replace the greasebucket tone stuff with traditional electronics soon.

What pickguard would look good with this color? I was thinking a black, or black pearl. but maybe red tort, im not sure.

Allthough it seems the light outside did more justice to your bass, inside it looks all worn down


I have 2 to show you, both Squiers, 1 vm and 1 standard.
Both have gotoh 201, new capacitors, pup covers and thumb rests.
