P bass or Stingray - One and only. (Poll)

I voted for the P. If I was still in the praise and worship band, I'd vote for the P ray. Get it? Heh heh. Okay, I'll shut up.

So, I throw buckets of bass into the room, and then roll around in it. Got it.
I had all the P basses I'm ever gonna own back in '79. What I learned over 10 years is that P basses are not for me. I don't like the way they feel and I simply need more sonic flexibility than what they provide.
If you like them, play one and enjoy it - - and I'll do the same with whatever I'm gigging.

I value uniqueness. As such, I wouldn't go with either of the choices -- but if I had to choose, I'd go with the Ray. Ps are exactly the opposite of unique.
Get the best of both. A Pbass with a humbucker in the P pickup sweet spot. Active EQ of your choice with a passive switch.
At the moment (and for the foreseeable future), these are the only two basses I own. I chose P for this poll because I think it is like the black dress of basses: it will never really be out of place. That being said, a Stingray is so much more versatile than I used to give it credit for. Can’t really go wrong with either.
Isn't that what the 3-way switch on the Stingray 5 does (series / single / parallel)?
Get a Mike Lull P5. Problem solved
(and for some reason, they are much more affordable than the PJs on the used market, although the retail price is not so different).
Had both at the same time, I was ALWAYS able to get the sound I wanted out of my P bass. I adored my stingray and still do, but it never got exactly what I wanted in live situations... I always felt like the upper register would disappear and the bottom was too powerful. At home, the p always sounded kind of "meh" but on stage it was literally so perfect.
Oh just go with P/MM. If it were me, I would slam the MM pickup right against the P pickup to get it as close to the sweet spot as possible. Something like this....
I have both and personally would never be without either. HOWEVER... I grab the P more often of the two when it's time to go play a wide variety of stuff. When I'm just gunna be playing harder rock/pup-punk stuff I'm taking the Ray 100%. But if it's an open jam or something, a P just works for everything.
My Ray rocks harder... but a P rocks everything. However, I got an MTD SUper 5 awhile ago... it doesn't copy a Stingray. It's MORE than a Stingray. It is the ballsiest bass I own when you want it to be. Dial out some mids and lows and it chills out and can blend in with anything. But leave everything flat and then add a touch of mids and WATCH OUT.
OORRRRRR as you can see in my profile pic, I also have both in one bass.
