P bass or Stingray - One and only. (Poll)

For whatever reason, I've just never been able to get along with a Stingray. I'm voting for P bass.

Me neither. The Ray’s a Great bass in certain hands…but so not for me.

You can use a P or a Ray just about anything. If you think a Ray can't sound smooth and sweet, listen Paul Denman on most any SADE track or Tony Levin on most any Peter Gabriel track.. A Ray can be EQ'd to sound just about any way you want it to. However, a P can work with most any style of music as well. I think they are pretty equal as to their versatility assuming that you know what you are doing.

If the Ray was a Special, than the Ray. The Specials have a very flexible eq and can cover a lot of ground, great neck feel and overall quality. However I do love the foolproof simplicity of a P

Exactly how I feel. Lots of music I like is played on a Stingray. Lots of bassists I respect use them. But it's not my sound.

I too can't get along with a 'Ray. I dunno, the feel and sound I guess. Wish it were different, cause they look like such a cool bass. Guess I'll have to go with the P. If I was stuck on a deserted island, I'd rather have the P.

Hundreds of gigs, never have I ever had a battery in my EBMM die on me. It's a myth. Change the battery every year or two...it's really not that difficult.

I play an EBMM sterling, P, and J. J is a distant 3rd for me. Sterling is always my go-to but the P has its moments, of course.

Actually I had a battery die on me in my StingRay years ago. Also, that bass had a very weak G string. Anyway yeah, I prefer a passive bass these days. I just like the sound better.

Neither. I play both, and I'd take an active J or a 4003 if I could only have one bass with rounds. A choice between those would be tough.

Stick a gun to my head and I'd go with the Ray. I prefer my P basses with flats.

Are we not differentiating between H and an HH?

I prefer the HH, don't have to EQ so hard for certain tones.

But again, I voted P.

Hard to cast a vote. I've owned a P for a couple years and absolutely love it. But I've never played a 'Ray for any length of time (just tried them at the store). What I do know is, if I recall all the times in my life that I went "Woah, that bass sounds awesome! What is it?", 90% of the times, the answer was either P or 'Ray.
Nevertheless, I guess I'd go with 'Ray, if only for the fact that you specified "with rounds". I string my P with flats and don't think I'll ever go back to rounds for it. Alternatively, my G&L L2K is strung with rounds. I think they go better with that bass' type of growl. Since the L2K is a "Ray-ish" bass, I figure I'd probably want rounds on it if I ever got one.

Ray all the way! It just speaks to me more than a P. Never have been a P kind of player, then again, I prefer a J over a P. I know I’m in the minority with these preferences.

I only have one bass and it’s a StingRay Special.

I would like to have a P bass one day, but that would be after a JMJ Road Worn Mustang Bass in black.
