I came across an old used (passive) P Bass style pickup while rummaging through a box of old spare parts that I want to use in a project bass I'm putting together from 2nd hand & salvaged parts. I've got no info on it's origins in terms of the brand or what bass it originally came from.
The wiring for the pickup is different to the other P Bass pickups I've seen before and I can't find a wiring diagram online that matches this one.
I don't have a photo at the moment so I made this in Paint:
Both parts of pickup are wired together (blue), then has wiring leading from only one half (yellow), which contains bare wiring and another inner wire.
Has anyone seen this kind of wiring before?
Is the "Bare" wiring ground, and should get soldered to the back of the volume pot?
And is the "Inner wire" the live/hot wire that goes to the centre lug/terminal of the volume pot?
The only wiring diagram I've found that has wiring coming from just one half of the pickup in this fashion was for an active pickup that has a second inner wire that goes to the a battery.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.
