Wonderful playing and fantastic groove! I completely disagree with the person that thought the recording wasn't an accurate representation of the typical sounds from each of these basses.

All 3 sounded really good to my ears, although the Ray4 seemed to lack a little something overall. That's nitpicking though. Great comparison video!

Honestly.. they all sound good. I think the Jazz fit the song more, but.. if I didn't know which bass you were using it probably wouldn't matter honestly. The song offered enough room to hear everything you were doing on each bass clearly.

After listening a few times to get the whole feel of the groove, tone and presence.
I personally prefer a P... BUT for this test, I went with the Jazz, slightly better presence, tones and clarity. The P had a tad more thump but not as good clarity. The MM really wasn't bad but was kind of missing something.
But that is just my taste and 1-1/2 cents.
Nice groove and playing btw.

I own precision, jazz and stingray basses and for me it's the precision all the way. Turn that tone control up and it's the undeniable sound of funk IMO: Raw, gritty and in your face. I really enjoy the other two, especially the '70's jazz with both p/ups on full, but the P just does it for me, time and time again, without fail. There's so much character in the sound of that split-coil p/up. I love it.
