P Diddy's Makin the Band.

They were some of the few musicians on the show who easily handled the task's handed to them, the only critiscism the judges ever had was making fun of Alex's stage moves.
For Diddy to make them jump through hoops and then diss them for no stated reason is BS.

break it down into pro's and cons
Pros-
They didn't have attitudes
they didn't start drama
they were amazing musicians
completed every task effortlessly

Cons-
Didn't look like Diddy wanted them too

I'm pretty sure Diddy isn't touring without a guitarist. It just won't be one from the reality show. I was surprised that they didn't pick one of the guitarists, most of the stuff they had them play was rock/solo sounding stuff. The week before, they dumped the Black guy who probably had a longer experience with r&b style rythmn guitar. I just think the decision had already been made to use an established pro for the tour.

Congrats Jamareo!
I thought it was interesting that during the debate they said Tim was ready for Madison square garden right now but they could see the potential in Jamareo,I'm sure he will live up to the opportunity. As far as the guitarist goes, from the beginning they seemed to respond to the "rocker" type image and wanted somebody with a vibe A'la slash/Steve Vai ect. when Diddy saw who was presented to him as his choices he didn't feel he was going to get that from them so he didn't pick anybody which sucks for them but probably had little to do with their playing skill's and everything to do with their "Vibe". Singer wise he went with the best,most consistent singers and I give him credit for picking someone with a alternative lifestyle that's obvious

A funny thing about the final episode was when they showed the little clip of Walter getting funky with his Jazz. I didn't realize he was even around until that clip. It seems pretty clear that Rawbiz and Jamereo were the clip most favored all along. As Diddy himself said, all of them are going to be working whether they work for him or not.:bassist:

God Bless you Man and thank you, I definitely will do that. God is 1st in everything that I do, whether ppl are happy for me or not I got it and I am very thankful and blessed to do what I love.

Low Key Dr. Cheese, they are suppose to be getting a guitarist and supposedly 2 more background singers along with the 2 we have. It's exciting.

Maybe. No disrespect to any of them, including the other guy you mentioned... none of them blew me away. I see much better on a regular basis around the DC area.

Hey, obviously you're entitled to that opinion. What does Brockett look like?

You saw amazing musicians. I didn't. Just saying... maybe that's an exposure thing. The reason I mentioned the backing vocalists is because he didn't hire any of the candidates for male vocalist either. Think that was also because of looks? I don't.

As far as Diddy not giving a reason... I thought he did. They're not what he was looking for. That's a reason. I guess he could've gone into detail but I believe most seasoned musicians know that you can be a perfectly competent musician and not right for a project.

Unless I missed something they didn't spend much time showing bassists playing electric bass thoughout the series.

And that's a shame given how good all of them are! As for the guitarists, I think Diddy was looking for more of a funky R&B/Funk (or even midi) experienced guy and while all the guitarists were good, none of them brought that to the table!

Lastly, we need more keys guys like Brockett in this world! He 'gets it'!

Watching the interaction between Diddy and the judges,it was clear that they were telling the band members we want you to learn this stuff exactly like the record and Diddy came in and said "put something on it" there is a fine art to doing this and it's a very subjective.I have been in those type of situations myself and it can be confusing as to who to listen to.

I see better guitar players here every weekend.

Really throughout the show I was only impressed with the bass players (who got the least time of all)
the drummers (didn't get much time either),
and the two keyboard players (Brockett and Free).

I was really disappointed with most of the vocalist who (IMO) were just meh.

But you know it's about ratings, so they needed drama and the majority of the drama was between the vocalist.

Puffy did the right thing on the vocals, with the exception of Jaylia. I would have taken Megan.

It was a little baffling to me how they could spend all that time on the vocals
and still not sound very good in the finale.
I think only picking two sent the right message to the groups...

Exactly. You get it drilled into your head by the MD that someone wants a carbon copy of a cut and then the artist comes in and turns left. The lesson is be prepared either way.

That scene with Mike on drums was classic. Doing what he was told to do and Diddy was unhappy because he wasn't doing more... because as far as he knows, Diddy specifically didn't want him to. He did the right thing and looked at it as a green light.
