P Diddy's Makin the Band.

everyone seems to be praising the musicianship on the show but i was thoroughly disappointed. Diddy commands the best musicians in the world. These cats are mediocre at best. Not only in a playability sense. They are all amatuers. I honestly feel I am light years ahead of most everyone on that show. I think ive learned more about my fellow TBers then i did about this show.

My comment was not a dig a you for sure. I think your playing is off the hook. I just cant help but think that some of what we have seen on the show is for t.v ratings. You keep doing what you're doing, either way with your skills and attitude, you will do great things and have quite a following, like me.:bassist:

Ok, There are some guys with significant touring and recording experience who are on that show although they seem to underemphasis that in the editing. One of the things in this media age I have found is that it is very hard to judge someones ability positively or negatively if you don't have a opportunity to actually hear them play. video snips might not give you the full story and it's easy to fall into the "hell I can do that" or "I'm better than that dude" trap. Rawbiz commented on this thread and he has credits a mile long so I don't think he qualify's as a amateur, not much info on your profile ;who have/do you work with? (if you click my sig some of my credits are there)

Like I said, thanks for the love to those that have shown me love. Mediocre at best Jmiller??????? 4real?????? Thats how you feel????? Why didnt you go out for the show?????? If you feel that strongly why wouldnt you want 200 MILLION viewers seeing you every week???? Show me and the world why WE are mediocre at best......... Wow......

Rawbiz, how freely can you talk about the show? Can you only say good things? Can you give us an idea of what the lag time is i.e. the episode that will air tonight, what date was that actually from? Through the wonders of editing we've basically seen and heard just a peep out of you but so much more from others that from what I heard ain't really in the same league. Can you actually comment on this?

PS:

I think a lot of this talent is wasted on the likes of P Diddy, music and singing are definitely not what he excels at.

Well... I'll start off by saying this.... Diddy isnt a singer,lol.... however, the way they freak his voice on Pro Tools is dope, his new record is AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Like some of the music put me in tears it was so dope. Im glad they showin him in a vulnerable state though, cause it shows everybody that hes human. As far as the show, I can say a few things. Tonight's episode was filmed in Late April or early May. We started filming at the monday after easter sunday. Yea the editing is a trip, cause a lot of what the guys on this thread are talking, is so false,lol.... But I cant knock them because thats the way they edited things so far.....

It depends on what 200 million people are actually seeing. Are cats playing to their full potential and showing viewers that they have "first call" potential? Or are they crying crocodile tears for tv ratings? Some of the editing that I seen could potentially hurt some careers.

Never that.... when your passionate about something, its worth crying over. Only person you seen cry is Lynette, and shes low key the best board player on the show. She had really been through alot with getting mistreated by ole boy. And her career is at the top of the charts, she plays for Will I Am and the Black Eyed Peas...... They are number one in EVERY COUNTRY, And maybe now even Diddy. Nobody cryin for no ratings. Everything you see is 100% real..... Although I will admit the editing is wack.... Cause cats are really goin hard in the house...... They just not able to show it all cause we only got an hour.....

I really wish they had two versions of each episode- one for people who watch for the drama and one for the people digging the musicians. I would have liked to see a LOT more playing and less "omg, what's he/she going to do!?!?" Ya know? But hey, its MTV...lol!! That being said I'm pretty happy with them having a show displaying the hardworking cats that are usually behind the scenes, and Rawbiz, keep doing your thing!!!

First let me say that I tried to had told them LOL. Im just ready to see you light it up bruh(if they ever get to that). I also like the transparency Diddy is showing. I think that reveals to ppl he knows hes human, he just busts his butt doing what he gotta do.
Gotta say Im still knocking the youtube clips from that Berkelee concert w/Mark Robertson. The skills is hot man. Can you tell me whats the wood combination of your blue MTD?

Thanks for the love bro, man I had so much fun working with Mark, he was my roomate. Yea, honestly, they been editing out the best stuff :hmm: Hopefully that will change soon. I have 4 MTD's, is there one in particular your asking about?

I hear what you're saying. However, television is a different animal where ratings rule the day. I know there are some really good players on the show and I wish they would show more. However, I don't expect it because the whole direction of the show takes place at the editing desk.

Ahhh, lol.... That one has a Mapleburl Top, Poplar back, Maple neck, rosewood fingerboard. it sounds great. Its a clone of one of Gouches old basses. Shocking enough they actually sounded Identical too....
