P/hum-bucker basses (formerly a P/J thread - reawakened zombie thread)

Thanks - That shows how effective the search-engine is here as I did type in P/J Club.
I don't want a redundant thread as there has been one (as illustrated above) since 2014. So... anyone wanting to post here, might as well post on the PJ Club link above! This thread will eventually get buried.

I've given it plenty of time and STILL just can't seem to vibe well with the P/J pickup config...
Something about it just doesn't set well to my ear. It very well could be the specific instruments I've tried, because I've heard some P/J's that sound amazing. I understand why people like them, especially if they can get the sound they're lookin for. Unfortunately, they generally just don't do much for me.
Actually planning to sell the one P/J I own pretty soon.

Imma P guy and it took a bit for me to get it but what worked for me was dialing in the pickups height. Basically needed to simply lower the J and balance them a bit. So it sounds huge with both full on and normal with just the P. Every thing fell into place after tweaking those out.

My Black 2010 Active Deluxe P Bass Special (Pearla). Modified to the Max. 2003 Red P Bass special Deluxe also modified to the max. 2007 Blizzard Pearl ( Blizzruh) Active Deluxe P Bass Special modified time the max. The 2 active Deluxes I completely stripped and freshened up. Gave them EMG active pickups with a Vol Vol Tone EQ, changed the pickguards for looks and also to only have 3 pot holes rather then the stock 4. EMG knobs, custom logo neck plates, made them String through Basses with a USA all parts string through only bridge with nickel ferrules. Dunlop strap locks and sanded the clear coat off the necks. The Red P Bass special Deluxe has very similar mods except I haven’t made it a string through yet. It has EMGX pickups rather then standard EMGs. I will be making it a string through soon. I Had to route out under the bottom P pickup about an inch down to fit a 9v battery. There is a updated Deluxe big block bridge on it.

This (originally redundant) P/J thread of mine died almost 5 yrs ago (which was.., ok)... but since starting it showing my only (Glam) P/J... I've recently redefined it into a Glam P/bucker... 
So now it's a P/Hum-bucker thread. Didn't want to waste a perfectly good thread! Feel free to add your P/bucker bass!
I made this Glam P/J 9 yrs ago. The body is two piece (top-maple/bottom-alder) with much chambering. Marty Bell did the silver & gold sparkle top/trans tobacco back.
So to start with I carefully scored the thick/fragile sparkle finish and scraped it off the area to be removed.
Extending the J pu rout exposed the internal chambering, which is ok as it has no effect on the pu. I did two coats of carbon paint on the sides and added more copper 'slug' tape to the floor.
The J pu that was in it was a Fender Super 55 split-coil with plug-in wiring connector, which needed to go as the Meteora pu unfortunately doesn't incorporate that. The Super 55's are great pu's - just wanted more beef at the bridge.
Enter the Fender Meteora Fireball hum bucker ... FTR - the 5 colour (4 + bare) wiring goes like this; Green = Hot / Red & White soldered together & taped-off / Black & Bare = Ground. I'm pointing this out because there are so many versions on a search. This is a standard Fender colour-code.
All done - sounds pretty beefy -
