P/J Body Preference

Keep in mind, I am not asking what's your favourite body shape; it's what's your preferred body shape for a P/J pickup configuration?

I considered adding a "other" option to the poll, but I just was curious on the two most popular body styles, which is what you tend to see the most.

Ah yes, I guess I just missed the question. If I was building one probably jazz.

I don't have any troubles with any of the Fender bodies - but I dislike most others except for the Ibanez SR series.

OK - maybe some of the Fender slab early basses are a bother with their sharp edges.

I think it's all a matter of creature comfort in the end. One of the basses I hybridized was my own body modeled after the VM-Jaguar, but softened like the SR500 I also own. Very sexy I think.

But I have a few Ps and a few Js and the VM-Jag too, and find them all comfortable.

P body because it is "even" across the bottom (roughly parallel to the butt end of the neck) and fits in ANY style of guitar stand without any drama. Certain styles of guitar stands don't work well with J bodies.

Oh yeah, the P is lighter, too!

I'd call this a P-style body ...
