I play a Precision with flats and a jazz with rounds, but those rounds are ~10 years old pure nickel and dead almost like flats. I do very much like a jazz with flats.

The only way I'd want this settled is via a groove off. One funkateer per category and we vote on who laid down the funkiest groove with the meanest tone.

To an non-bass player audience they all sound the same.

I checked all but "Jazz with flats." Tried it. It sucked.

But a Jazz with Labella black Nylons sounds pretty good and the strings are flexible enough to bend which adds a dimension to your playing.

I tried Chromes and Rotosound flats on my Jazz. Not great, went back to Rotosound Swings….. but I think La Bella LTFs would work nice on a Jazz. Maybe someday I’ll try it.
