My first job in audio manufacturing was in the early 80s at a really small company located in an old mill building in Manchester, Connecticut, that had gas heaters up near the ceiling that blew out hot air. On cold winter days the air inside used to get really dry.
Someone had sent back a unit for repair and packed it in styrofoam peanuts. When I opened the top of the box and reached inside, hundreds of peanuts started flying up from the box and clinging to my sweater. At first it was hilarious but soon became a PITA. It was difficult to get rid of them because as I pulled them off by hand and tried to fling them into the garbage, most of them just boomeranged back onto me.
