I voted other and it will save you money....leave it natural. Wood wasn't meant to be painted, plastic is. I like it the way it is especially w/ a tort p/g on.

Dan K's bass looks like LPB to me. I've painted basses and guitars with the Reranch lacquer paints in black, sonic, daphne (looks so much better in person than in pictures), sherwood (maybe a bad paint lot, but as much as daphne looks better in pics, this looked worse in person) and, Lake Placid Blue. Of all (and I really liked most), LPB is hands down my favorite. It has an unexpectedly vintage flair (it was a 1958 Cadillac color choice - so was daphne - if you like big old American cars with fins). If at all interested, this site has great info on the old Fender colors, paints and finishes: http://www.provide.net/~cfh/fenderc.html. LPB looks good with tort, white, black pickguards and probably pearl too. The coolest thing about the color is the metallic color shift it does when you look at it from different angles. The color ranges from light to dark. The only thing you can do wrong painting with LPB is to put it on too thick all at once. Use more very light coats rather than trying to get the paint to flow (like you would with an opaque color). You want all the little metal flakes to remain standing on edge and all the other angles they land in when they are sprayed. Too thick, and the flakes lay down, losing a lot of their optic qualities. Good luck. I guess if I had to choose from among the color choices you mentioned, I'd go for daphne or sonic. Post pix of the finished project.

Just a quick note regarding keeping the natural finish... I dig a natural finish just as much as the next guy. BUT, I have to say that unless the top wood has some really exceptional grain (AAA+ quilted/flame maple, burled something, cocobola, or (extreme) zebrawood), I think I'd rather just see a paint job - at the very least, a sunburst. The bass, grain-wise, seems rather blah, so give it a real makeover...

I really do think Sea Foam Green is a wonderful color.

However, if you want something even more distinctive - and that goes perfectly with tort - consider one of the Fender gold colors, or the Ford Metallic Gold (@1972) that my '63 P is painted. You won't see one like this every time you pull it out of the case:

Here is a pic that Jimmy sent me with two Ice Blue Metallic basses in the background. I like mine MUCH better!

To answer your question - neither! It was supposed to be Ice Blue Metallic and Jimmy offered to have it redone but this is MUCH nicer (IMNSHO)!

There was a Seafoam Green p-bass that flknifemaker used to own and put pictures of it up, it had a tortiseshell pickguard, seriously good looking bass...

I saved pics of it on my old computer, lemmie see if I can dig them up, I think you'd def dig the look of it.
