Palmer cab merger and 1100 watts

I have a handy Palmer cab merger box and a Hartke LH1000 head. If I want to connect two cabs each with single 1/4” jacks (so no daisy chaining possible) using the Palmer into the bridge output of the Hartke, that would mean up to 1100 watts going through the Palmer. Putting aside the question of cab ratings, is the Palmer built to handle this much power? I see nothing in the user manual regarding maximum wattage.

I see no limitations listed, either. I do see some precautions re: using matched impedances. What are the cabs in question?

Probably not a problem. I don't know from t he specs. but if the case is tied to the speaker minus terminal, you do not want the case touching anything metal on your amp since many amp's minus terminal is energized. Rarely is this a problem in guitar applications.

They are matched: a pair of 8-ohm 1505 Black Widows. Together that’s 700 watts RMS, and I will be cautious with the volume knob, but my concern was the Palmer being a weak link in transmitting that much potential juice even with caution.

I don’t get why you are even using this box. I see no need, just buy a parallel cable. What I do see is the possibility of the Jacks on the cabinets melting trying to carry that much power. The risk of shorting out one side of your amp is something you should think about.

I already had the Palmer before the Hartke. I’m just curious if it still has a use with my current gear...perhaps not. Running the Hartke in dual parallel mode each side at 8 ohms is 225 watts straight into each cab. The Palmer was a TB recommendation in response to an earlier question I posted with these single jack cabs a few months ago, but that was using a head with only one available output and far less power.

Btw: I love the Hartke. I would eventually like to find something that can handle it bridged without a sweat, but for now that’s just GAS talking. drool

You don't need the box, your amp is capable of driving a 4 ohm load bridged so just use appropriate cables.
