Double Bass Paper on Upright Bass Ribs

With much effort I took the back off my bass, I had to do some repairs to the back as well as the ribs and now I am ready to reassemble. I have read about using paper between the rib and plates, this seems like a really good idea for future removal. Can someone let me know what kind of paper and what type of glue you use? I tried a test w/some heavy/light paper and hide glue. I imagine the paper is glued on first, trimmed, then the back is glued onto the ribs?

As long as you use traditional hot hide glue, there should not be a problem removing the back in the future. The paper gasket just adds another variable to an already fragile system.

Robbie MacIntosh has used paper on the glue surfaces of the neck and tail blocks when the top is glued on. Less destruction for future removal. I tend to think of the back as a more permanent installation. A good fit and proper glue choice (fresh hot hide glue, 192 gram strength or higher) are going to be key to a sustainable repair.
