Parallel Compression, blender or mix control on pedal?

Looking at getting a compressor pedal for the bass...

Is it going to be better to use a blender to mix the compressed signal with the uncompressed or just to get a pedal with a mix control on it...

Of course, the pedals I am looking at, Empress, Wampler, Seymour Duncan, with a mix knob are usually the more expensive but then there is a cost for a blender pedal with a less expensive compressor pedal.

as that is the only place I can find that seems to have all the pedals for demo in one physical location, but it is 200 miles away.

How is everybody finding something that works for them...?

ATM I am thinking a pedal with a mix knob because..

a) there will be no phase issues.

b) it will take up less space.

c) I can use my LS2 for guitar.

Are there any particular advatages in using a blender?

For me an external blender has more benefit for cases where say I'm mixing various pedals together in one blended loop, or where I want additional EQ on either the wet OR the dry channels but not both.

Fair enough, an external blender would give more options.

I gather the better ones don't come cheap though.

For me though, I only use a Boss CE-5 chorus pedal and a Korg Pitchblack tuner and I want a compressor. ATM I have a Boss CS-3, which is okay in the LS-2 blend loop.
