Passing the wait time

What did you order and how long is your wait? I have only had a max build time of 3 months, and after the first week or so it passed it got put in the back of my mind until the a day or two before the ETA date. That's when I became impatient and started pacing around in circles and scratching like a junkie looking for a fix! 
I couldn't imagine waiting a year or so for a Fodera/Carl Thompson etc...that would KILL me!

I ordered a Carvin with a 6 - 8 week time frame.... guess it's not that bad! But as a music teacher, I'm surrounded with instruments and people into instruments...and people asking me about instruments.
That's not bad! Carvin's are AWESOME! I understand being around music/instruments etc all day...that doesn't make it any easier!
My purchase was a fretless, so when I ordered it I dug out an old Cello Suites book and started working on a few movements. When the fretless came, I had the notes under my fingers and all I had to do get used to the feel of fretless!

Order a second one - that's good! of course I've read in the forums that's what some people do...

My custom should be ready soon. My deposit was sent at the end of February 2011. The wait time is around what I expected. As this is my first custom, here is how the process went:
Initial contact
Decision to go with luthier '"x"
Deposit sent (fear at putting a chunk of money down on something that only exists in theory)
Worry and doubt that I chose the right woods/electronics/etc...
Lusting over other people's custom creations from said luthier
Further worry about my choices
Looking at wait times for other luthiers
Uncontrollable desire to have custom creation created sooner
Further worry
a short period of peace
First build pictures arrive
Craving like a hungry pit bull on a leash inches away from a steak
Staring at build pictures
Further worry
More staring
That's about where I am right now. As you see, I haven't been at a loss for a way to fill the hours.

I ordered the Icon 5 string with both walnut top, walnut body, maple neck and ebony fingerboard. Can't wait!!!
