Passive AB switch

I have two basses that I use and would like to have both of them plugged into an AB switch that I can toggle between the two depending on which one I want to use. I can't seem to find one that doesn't need power. I don't have any other pedals and would like to not worry that a battery might go dead in the middle of a gig.Does any one know of a true passive AB switch?

The switching part of the Morley ABY is passive. It has battery power just for the LEDs to indicate the selection.

Check the StuMac archives. They had a how to vid on making an A/B box. I found it after a guitarist I was playing with said he was looking for a way to have two guitars plugged in to his rig without having to plug and unplug. The SM vid detailed how to build a stomp box style switch using an old (IIRC) tuna can. I built several of them for various friends but it’s been too long ago to recall the specifics.

the problem with this idea is that it's easy to end up with two plugged-in instruments tangled into a big ol' knot by the end of the set

it's probably better to just mute with your stage tuner (you are using a stage tuner right?), unplug and switch

either way, most AB-boxes are indeed passive and will work with no power. trouble there is now you can't tell which instrument is on, leading to wasted time on stage. since the battery on an LED-equipped box would just be running the lights themselves it'll last a super-long time

Not true passive but best solution is one wireless receiver and two wireless transmitters. Turn on the one you want to use and off the one you don't.

The One Control BJFe 1Loop has the ability to be a single loop switcher, a mute switch, a input switcher, or an output switcher, depending on how and what you connect to it. The power is only for the LED, which is actually quite useful.

The original Radial Big Shot had no LED’s, therefore no power requirements. It was meant for one instrument into two amps, but signals can be routed the other way. It’s been superseded/upgraded, but those older ones are still quite useful…

Ive been using the Morley ABY Selector/Combiner for a couple years and find it great..easy bass switching. It has choice of 9V adapter for the leds or use a 9V battery.

For the last 7 years I've been using a Radial Bigshot I/O for instrument switching.
Passive signal path, provision for level matching (with switches to prevent treble loss - or bypass the whole circuit), an option to run power for LED indicator lights (which can be a good idea on a larger production IME) tough as nails and not too terribly expensive.
