Passive Bass Into Active!!!

I am wanting to take my 4 String Epiphone Les Paul Special and install active electronics into it. It has two separate hum buckers, a volume knob for each and then a tone knob. I am wanting to gut the thing and install all new active electronics...how would any of you go about doing that? And what new electronics would you suggest (from pickups to wiring)?

You could buy an on board preamp and keep your current pickups. Or replace your pickups with a set of active EMGs (or similar) and keep your stock pots. Although the first option is probably more popular.
Without this becoming a "post the electronics in your bass" thread, choices are all about what you know you want through research not what everyone else has.

If you get stacked knob 2band the change is real simple. It replaces the current tone control rest of your electronics stay as they are cept for output jack which also gets replaced. Just find room for 9 volt battery in control cavity. I've used and very much like the basslines blackout 2band eq. Nice comoact, great sound, selectable treble center freq via dipswitch on the little circuit board thats attached to control pot stack.

check out the Audere preamps. Highly configurable so you probably could configure one without chopping up your bass. Also the company is very responsive and would probably help you in the configuration. I have had a few and presently have one in my Warwick Corvette fretless. These are a personal favorite.
