Passive Music Man Basses Update

Much love and respect to the Caprice. Possibly the best P ever made for punchy fingerstyle. I guess people didn’t understand it or don’t appreciate quality. I bought two and swapped necks, then one of the mutant siblings burned in the largest wildfire in state history. The one that remains, my black/maple caprice has MAX juju. I left a lot of great basses in my closet when that fire came through. No regrets grabbing the caprice.

That’s an extra special bass to survive that horrible fire. Sorry about everything you lost.

Part of me is really sad to learn this.
The other part of me recognizes that I owned 4 Cutlasses, having bought none of them at retail price, and sold all of them.
They were well made, different (at least in feel) from their Fender counterparts, and filled a nice niche in the EBMM line. The bass world just didn't NEED them. They were a solution to a problem which doesn't exist, and a $2k+ solution at that, since last spring. I'm bummed because I think a lot of companies make "better" P's than Fender, but of course it's so hard to compete with the original and industry standard.
To me they were cool, versatile $800 basses priced at double or triple that. I'll pour one out for em because they're among the coolest production model takes on classic passives I've seen.
