Paul McCartney and who?

Since Wing's demise in 79 or 80, Paul has worked with a handful of other artists. There was the collaboration with Stevie Wonder, the collaboration with Micheal Jackson. Both of which I saw more as gimmicky, publicity grabs. Then I think there was a collaboration with Elvis Costello. Never paid no attention to it cause I was never a fan of Elvis. Then of course there was Sirvana! With the surviving Nirvana members. That was pretty cool. Abliet a vie for relavence, you gotta admit, that was pretty cool!
In your mind sometimes you pair up favorite your artist with others from the existing echelon of stars. And wonder 'What if...'
Who would you like to see Macca do a collaboration with?
Personally, I've always wanted to have him collaborate with Ray Davies of the Kinks. That would be pretty cool I bet!
McCartney's penchant for old timey music styles. Think 'When I'm 64',
'Your Mother Should Know', 'You Gave Me The Answer', 'Honey Pie'. Coupled with Davie's historical examinations of British society and nearly equal songwriting abilities, they could prob come up something really interesting.

He did work with Bonham on Wings 79 album 'Back to the Egg'. Bonham was part of the Rochestra line up that did two songs on the album. Originally it was gonna be Keith Moon. Then Moon died and he got Bonham. Bonham did the sessions but then he also died soon after. I think it was his last recordings.
Rochestra had an amazing line up that included Bonham, Gilmore, Pete Townsend, the guys in Wings, Gary Brooker, Dave Edmunds, John Paul Jones and others.

Actually, Elvis cowrote four songs on that album, and they sang together on at least two of them (I don't have the specific credits). They recorded at least nine demos together (based on the mega-reissue of Flowers in the Dirt), and Paul cowrote a total of four songs that wound up on the EC albums Spike and Mighty Like A Rose (Veronica, Pads Paws & Claws, Playboy to a Man, and So Like Candy). Also, Paul played bass on This Town on Spike.

He's at an age where he's not going to be pushed. If I'd suggest someone who could produce him and bring out the best as George Martin once did, I'd pair him with Jeff Lynne in a heartbeat.

Guys rarely want to be pushed out of their comfort zone. Years ago, I watched (I believe on Cinemax) a filmed tribute to Les Paul, and one of the performances featured his friend Ed Van Halen. He fronted a house band with Rick Marotta, Tony Levin, and Jan Hammer. They weren't intimidated in the least, and he eventually defaulted to his 'elephant roar' and various wiggle-stick tricks as they were dragging him around by the short hairs. I doubt Macca would sign up for something like that.

If it was for a BAND I'd like to see Paul with... Julian Lennon, Gene Simmons, and Ringo!

Also, I wonder what Macca could have done working with Barry Gibb (of the Bee Gees), too. After all, they are -along Elton John- the most successful chartbusters of the 70's decade.

Anyway, if you look back at what McCartney did in the past you'd be able to notice he has this incredible quality of making his bandmates look like the world's best musicians.

Also in centuries to come there is no doubt in my mind the man is going to be regarded as the XXth century' greatest composer.
