Paul Powell

In the 80's the was this UK band The Style Council, one of their singles was "Wanted" and it features a short but very interesting basssolo (starting at 2:00). I always liked the punchy sound and the rhythmic/melodic slap style of the bassplayer. Today I found out who played on that track, Paul Powell.
Does anyone know this bassplayer from other bands/project?

Yes I worked with Paul in the 80's he was a top bassist and played with a lot of well known bands and on hits as a session guy. All round top bloke and musician !

reviving and old thread but it was announced in 2018 by Stuart Zander that the bassist credited as Mr.X on the album version of Space Cowboy was Paul Powell.

I am a big fan of that bass track. It's so smooth and Elegant. I'd love to hear more things by Paul Powell.
