I sold a Cort Artisan to someone almost a month ago on E-bay. I checked my e-mail and found one from Paypal letting me know that someone filed a dispute. It was the real deal, because there was no link in the e-mail. I log onto my Paypal account and it's for real. It looks like I have an E-bay scammer trying to jilt me. I guess after 200 transactions, it was bound to happen sooner or later.

I sent Paypal the tracking information for the item, and now I guess I have to wait for the process to run through.

Anyone been through this? If so, can you describe the process?

Ive had a couple instances of making a payment on ebay with a credit card only to find paypal trying to draw money out of my checking account (which stays empty unless I move funds from paypal from a sell I made). I go to the bank and they tell me I owe money to paypal because I have no funds in that checking account. It makes me furious.

I make sure Im paying with my credit card on file with paypal, and they do this...

its bs.

I've been through it twice with my wife's business, but not with any bass related transaction.

Basically, the chargeback is actually issued through the credit card company. PayPal is involved as an intermediary only, since the financial dealings are all through the issuing credit card company. But PayPal was great in the two circumstances we were involved with.

The buyer issues a request for charge back for several reasons, but usually because either 1) the item is not what they believed they were buying, 2) the item was never received, or 3) the item was somehow misrepresented (damaged etc). From your end, you usually have about 10 days to file your statement about the transaction, which could include the original description of the item, any sales slip, shipping info with confirmation of delivery, and payment details.

In my wife's case it was all very straightforward. Her descriptions completely matched what was sold, the item was not damaged and was shipped and received in a timely fashion. It both cases it was more a question that the buyer was intimidated by the complexity of the kit (my wife is a doll designer and she sells kits for people to make dolls), so we were in the right and no action was taken to refund the money.

Strangely enough, my wife would have gladly refunded the money if the item had been returned, but these people just decided to file a chargeback instead ....

Hint, Provide the tracking info and then click Escalate to a Claim. don't screw around with trying to deal with pricks like that, the more time goes by the better it looks to the other person, so just escalate it and deal directly with paypal. Don't email them or call them etc etc.

I don't remember seeing that option when I sent my tracking info. I can't seem to find the option to escalate to a claim on the Resolution Center either.
