Don't waste your time wiring your bass to have an out of phase option, you'll hate it.

Well, I have a bass with a phase option and I am restoring it properly. On my original Hondo Longhorn I used the phase quite a bit. It give a pretty cool option for our more mellow tunes.

I can understand that, especially if you're going for a quasi-acoustic tone with effects like chorus and/or 'verb. And there's nothing wrong with doing a proper restoration. Best of luck!
