PC or MAC For home studio?

well i just bought a new computer.. should be here tomorrow.. my Pc right now is dying and I've had so many problems with it... so i unloaded $1600 last week for a new one.. not the most expensive I could afford... nor the cheapest.. but I got what I wanted... Pcs macs.. it doesn't really matter....

in any event.. I am planning on really using my PC as a means of recording

Here's the low-down on our DAW:

P4 1.7, 512M RAM, swappable 80G HD
Cubase SX
every plug-in imaginable
Aardvark Q10 recording module (ASIO compat.)

Believe it or not, we use Windows XP. It's tempermental when we use MIDI, but that's the nature of the beast - we found if you leave a MIDI channel open when trying to mixdown all kinds of bad stuff happens! ASIO compatibility seems to be the big thing right now, rather than using DirectSound drivers. They are more stable, and tuned to DAW processes than the standard MS driver scheme.
