Double Bass Peacock Blows off Costello...

Let's remember it was about sitting in on a Lee Konitz quartet gig, with I think Bill Frizzle and Matt Wilson or Paul Motian. In that context Costello is "just a pop star". Very few people can play jazz quartet music at that level and Costello, like most of us, isn't one of those people.
If I was in a position to pick between doing anyone's pop songs and playing any improvised music at that level I'd be go with Peacock's decision.
