Pearl Basses

Browsing a local forum I came across a guy who was looking for info on a "Pearl" ( same brand as the drums) bass which he had recently bought (he did n't say where). It's very similar to a Fender Precision. I never knew Pearl made basses and most people here were surprised.

Anyone else ever come across them ?

I have one. Made in Japan, 1991, originally sunburst, I have bought her in 1993 from some guy who painted the body white with some soft lacquer - you could scratch with your nail to it! So I stripped it down to the original sunburst and (having the soft spot for natural finish at that time) I even sanded down the sunburst and kept there just a thin layer of base clear coat. The black strips on sides of body I left. The neck is amazing player, rounded edges, white binding, no less. Maple + dark, dense rosewood board, perfect frets.
Body is of unknown heavy wood, not alder, not ash..

The specs are imho so true to Fender that I suppose that could be called a lawsuit copy by Pearl factory. I have seen since only about two or three basses like that on the net.

Sound - i love it:

Tracks 13 to 16 are with DiMarzio model J which have been there since I bought it and Track 05 is with SD Aniquity II, which I put there later.

I will never sell this bass.
