I just wanted to let you guys hear the tone of this bass. It has VFLs in the same position as a Cirrus, and is 35" scale too. The difference is a two band preamp that is totally the opposite of a Cirrus. I did not play much B string, but I did hit it a little bit. I really love this bass!

Very cool tone and of course I dig the line you were playing at the start, and know what it is :)

One other difference - those VFL are not the same VFLs in the Cirrus - these are VFL-Plus. Same pickup was in the 4 string GBass. They are a different design and more Stingray-like, though the effect of that is only really appreciated if you put one where it would be on a Ray - I've done that, and it has that Ray vibe.

But I dig them where they are on this bass too :)

Thanks, I did not know they were different from the Cirrus pickups. :) Even though it was stiff, I love to play the bassline to Glide by Pleasure.:bassist:

Spacing is about 17mm, like a SR5. I used no effects at all. These basses tend not to cost much, but are extremely rare. I was gifted two of them, but I need to have a new trussrod installed on one of them.

Dr. Cheese you are bringing the heat again with these bass selections. Is there anything out there similar to the Peavey Cirrus that you have run across?

Well this Forum V is like cross between a Stingray and a Cirrus since it has a Stingray style neck and body size. I am also really digging the Ibanez SRFF805. I posted a clip of me playing the Ibanez on a thread comparing the 805 to the 1405.

Clip of the Ibanez sounds great. Only complaint I have with Ibbys is they sound a little dry in the highs. Tough to describe. Buddies studio swears by the Sr5000E - says it records great.

I dont want to derail too much but i saw you played a yamaha trb 6. If I was between a cirrus 6 and a trb, whats the differences? I love super fast necks and want to use the bass mainly for jazz fusion and it needs to record well. I solo up high on the neck a fair amount and love a good slap tone.

It's been more twenty years since I had one, but I absolutely loved my TRB6, I really regret letting it go, but it did not sound like a Cirrus.

Since you guys say it sounds like I am using an octave pedal. I made another clip of me slapping some basslines on my Forum V. The first is the bridge pickup with bass all the way up and a treble boost. Later it is both pickups with the same tone settings. Finally, it is about where the tone was on the first video.
