Peavey foundation/t-40 mixuo

Hahah, looks like someone swapped the neck on that bad boy for a Foundation neck and the employees have no idea about old Peavey's! So you already pulled the trigger? If so, let us know the results when it gets there, heh heh.

It's funny, I was at a local store (not GC) and was talking with one of the guys about basses. He asked me about my current setup, and I mentioned my new (old) Foundation. He had no idea what I was talking about and wanted to hear more about it. It's amazing how overlooked some of these old Peavey's are. Then again, I didn't know about any of them until I stumbled across one in another guitar store about six months ago...

Tim (MNAirHead) would know for sure, so I'd PM him. There's a lot of variation in vintage Peavey neck styles in general (but not in quality, that always seems to be very high), so in the grand scheme of things, no, not really. If it fits, it'll feel no different than an equivalent T-40 neck, because even those varied. However, you could get a thicker P-like neck, or a skinnier J-like neck. They're all pretty comfortable, and in the worst case, you can just sell the neck and buy a T-40 neck from the proper generation to assure a good fit.

And the only reason I think the neck is swapped is that I can't gather any other reason for why it would be listed as a Foundation. My assumption is that the employee who put it in the books saw "Foundation" on the headstock, and not knowing his stuff on these old basses, just took it at face value and looked up a cost.

Then again, my Foundation was listed as a Milestone on craigslist when I bought it, even though it blatantly said "Foundation" on the headstock. So who knows. :smug:

huh... (scratches head). I've been looking up GC for used foundations for the past few days and didn't spot this treasure. Good for you man.

I'm not the most knowing on the matter, but as far as I can tell, I've never seen a Peavey foundation with a pick guard on it before, let alone humbucker pups (at least that's what they look like to me).

Just quick question about buying used from guitar center though. Anyway to tell the condition of their used gear?

the neck pockets are different sizes.....so are the scale lengths.

I (not gloating) probably owned the Most unique T40 on TB for decades.. it was never played as the neck wasn't comfortable (funny as I gig 7 and 9 strings)

The good news is that you've just scored the combo with the most parted down options on Ebay.

Ditto. I've seen it too and thought the same.

Not only have I seen, say for example, a Fender Telecaster listed with a Strat pictured but I have seen pedals listed with guitars pictured, drums listed with a bass pictured, etc...
While I'm not a GC basher, they are very sloppy with their online used section.
I know with my local GC to view all the used basses that they actually have in stock on line you will have to look in the categories of not only "bass" but there are several listed in "guitar" and a couple in "amps".
Its kinda of a mess, I very curious to see what happens.
