I may be wrong (MNAirhead you can probably clear this up for me), but isn't that first picture a T-20?

Back on topic: for an amp you might want to consider one of the small combo amps from Acoustic (that's the name of the company). They're really affordable and sound really good IMO, and with the exception of the very smallest one (B20 I think it's called) have enough power to hang tough when playing with a band.

the pic was so dark that I did not look close enough. It is a T20.....buy it quick!!!!!

I will have to look up what a T-20 is lol, but I will be buying it. I have been looking locally for an amp. Mostly craigslist, but I will look into the acoustic stuff. Thanks for the suggestions guys!

It is an early model Fury. They look very similar to the T-20, but the T-20 has the same body shape as the T-40. This one has a Fury body shape. A T-20 would actually be worth more, but for $80 you really can't go wrong.

I have a 94 Fury that I beat around the house with sometimes. Got it for 60 bucks. Sounds like a great old school P bass.

Yeah, it's an early Fury, not a T20.

Cool bass. That Fury is worth way more than the later Fury's, and way more than $80. The jumbo Super Ferrite pickup makes all the difference. I'd buy that thing in a heartbeat. Just make sure it has no issues.

I started out on a Fury back in high school. Its still sitting at my mothers house. Those basses are killer values.

Oh, by the way, I think you should get the Fury. And to conclude my statement, I recommend you get the Fury.

Even if you have to spend $75 to get it setup professionally it is still a great deal. Do yourself a favor and get flats put on it. Probably GHS precisions strings or something.

I will be picking it up today after work. I'll take pictures and post them up. Besides the slight discoloration on the back, the bass is flawless. He's also throwing in a soft carrying bag. Now, time to read a billion threads about amps lol.

Early Fury.. kind of like an T-20 with a better feeling body.

I posted in the amps section but I would like to update this thread too. I am down to either buying a Fender Rumble Bass 100/115 or a Peavey Pro Studio 112 (red stripe with delta sign) because these are the two most intriguing (price and reviews) out of the amps available locally. Any suggestions on which one of the two?

The Fury 4 (usually Fury IV) was made in Korea. A nice bass, but not nearly as good as what you are buying.

Awesome choice. You couldn't go wrong either way. I own both a Fury and a Foundation, and let me tell you, it is bass-heaven. Got a great deal on them too! I'm sure you'll want a Foundation or even a Dyna-Bass soon.

Strings will become a matter of pref over time. I love D'addario Nickels. GHS boomers are great strings on a budget.

Since this is your first instrument, I'd recommend you get a professional setup. The last thing you'd want is to be deterred from playing the bass by a bad setup. If the action seems high, then ask them to make the action low or medium low and see how you like it. Again, you will want to try round wound strings, and you will want to try flat wound strings. Since your bass is essentially a P bass, I'd get flats.

I hear that people still like Peavey brand strings on Peavey basses...go figure. Let us know how it turns out.
