Peavey fury opinions

Well, there are several Peavey Fury models. If you aren't sure of the exact model, let us know the pickup configuration and those of us who have had a few Peaveys can help you out.
I had a Peavey Fury in the '80s. All I can remember of it is that it was very heavy. I guess it was pretty unremarkable.
I have a mid 90's MIA Fury. It is based on a 60's P-bass but with a Jazz neck. I got it off the bay, with the OHSC for a $100. There is no comparing these to an sx ect.ect. It is just as good (in some ways better) than the MIA Fenders of the time. I only play US made Peaveys. You'll never beat them on price and value. I have a Fury, A Foundation and a Cirrus. If your looking at a "Fury II". They are ok, but not US made.
The Fury bass was a good quality beginner/intermediate bass. If you've got less than $200 bucks to spend, I would go for one as opposed to getting an SX or something.
The P-Bass model, I like it a lot. The neck is thinner than a Fender P-Bass, which many people like, and the tone is great. They can be had for next to nothing. I had one and swapped out the pickups for a fancy pants brand. There was no need, the stock pups sounded great. I would not call it a beginner/intermediate bass. This is every bit as good as an MIA Fender, IMO. Of course, YMMV. 
I actually put a set of Fury pickups into a Mexican Precision because they were alnico V and sounded a great deal better than the stock Fender(Mexican). And if you find an earlier Fury with the slanted Superferrite it is even better sounding. Peavey knew pickups.
