Peavey Head?

So today I jammed with my friends band at some festival and their bassist borrowed my cab. His head was some older (80's?) Peavey tube head. it was rated at 60W and had a Crunch and an Ultra distortion. When I cranked it for later songs, it got distorted even without the distortion on. Is this just tube distortion? (It was realllly bad).

That's a guitar head.

60 watt Ultra Tube Lead I believe or a VTM 60.


That distortion was the bass speakers being heavily underpowered. You are lucky your cab didn't suffer damage.

EDIT: Or his head for that matter.
