Thanks, I appropriate the info. My guess wasn't very far off. I still have both of mine and they're not going anywhere anytime soon. The 200 w @ 4 ohms has to be way underrated. It's a very versatile Bass Amp.
The only weakness IMO is the EQ and it's easily bypassed by going out the send and coming back in on the Pwr Amp in on the back. Sticking a Sansamp product in there makes these Amps rip !
I recently got my dream amp, a Tech 21 dUg Ultra Bass1000. !000 w @ 4 ohms and weighs 12 pounds. I go Pwr Amp in to a MegaBass if I run more than 2 cabinets.

I have a Peavey mega bass amp. One of the amps is out. The shop that I took it to sent it back to peavey. Does anyone know if peavey still repairs these? or i should say repairs or replaces the amps?

They have been repairing them at very reasonable prices forever. Since Peavey was bought out, I hope they've kept their repair shop going as it was. I'm not certain as I've not heard of anyone recently sending one in for service. You should get an estimate after they look it over.

Could never afford one back in the day but recently found mine on ebay in Florida. When initially checked this head out it was paired with a Peavey 1516 bottom and sounded killer. I am now running it with and SWR son of goliath 210 and looking for a 115. Any recommendations on the 115? Number please.

If you guys have issues with the carring bag like me or you guys are not happy with the factory one (very cheap quality in my opinion) my wife bought this 12x12 mixer gig bag from Gator. The Minimega fits like a glove and is 5.5 inches deep so you have space for the power cord and speakon cable. It have an extra pocket and is water resistant. She found it on Amazon for less than $40.

MegaBass pals: I have been gone for a long time, but I'm here again because I'm taking double bass lessons soon. I stopped gigging on electric several years ago (work), but I still own one of my 80s MegaBass heads that I will never sell. If you sent me a message over the past few years, I'm sorry I missed it. Chances are tons more people here have better answers than me.

i am looking to get another megabass mine died a few years ago and i didnt know at the time i might have been able to get peavey to fix it. no one could at the time and now i have meet several people who are like i could have fixed it .. RIGHT.. sucks but im looking to get one if any one has one and you're interested in selling hit me up FB Hank Huguenin.

Wow!! Just found this thread.
I gigged a Megabass for 3-5 years. EVERY weekend.
Along with a Hartke 115XL and 210XL or 410XL.
LOVED that rig!!
Sold it when I stopped playing several years ago.
I just got back into playing this past fall.
I have no immediate plans of gigging, but have been watching for Megabass heads.
One popped up on the local craigslist a couple weeks ago with a Peavey 410 for $200.
I was unable to grab it quick enough.
Do people still run bi-amp systems?

Bi-amping isn't as popular as it once was, but if it suits you there's no reason you shouldn't do it. It's another way that works.

Hello TB, new guy and first post, I recently got a Peavey Megabass ( do I get a number ? lol) through a trade and really like it. Between it and the 11R with it's SVT Blueline and DC Bass models, through the Ampeg 210av cab, I am hearing the sounds that please me.
The Gretsch Junior Jet with tapewound sounds great, feels great and is just fun to play.
I am very new to bass, been a guitar hack/noodler for 40 yrs off and on
Thanks to TB for being the major source of information for me with all things bass related to help me make decisions.
I don't use the H&K BATT. I tried it as an amp straight to the cab and it's a bit cold sounding to me, as an overdrive is where it probably would work best for me, but I don't really get to crank things up to see for sure.

and side note : that Pyle sound isolation pad helps my situation to get more volume and less rattling

Hey guys.
Not a frequent flyer here, but saw this thread and thought I’d reply.
I picked up an old MegaBass 2 months ago. £60. Took it for a full service before even plugging it it. ( one pot was smashed on the front so that needed doing in any case).
First thing the engineer said on my return was. “That thing is very powerful”.
It’s only a standby but it’s a great piece of kit. I ran it ( one side ) into an Ashdown 8x10 and it’ll flatten the pile on your carpet. Proper room shaking bass.

The owner's manual power rating is ridiculously conservative. Too bad there is no onboard way to bridge the two amps.
