FINALLY found a clean Megabass!!! After a year of looking.
Hope it's as good as what I remember.
10 years of regular weekly gigging, my only amp was a Megabass.
The situation is completely different.
Then was a 410 and 115 Hartke bi-amped.
Now will be 2-112 Epifani cabs full range.
HAS to be better than the Mini-Mega I've been using.
Coincidently I also have a GK MB800 coming Monday.
We'll see which one wins. I hope it's the Mega!!!

Question - the 400w amp as I understand it puts 200w into each channel at 4 ohms

To be clear, the rig I'm planning to run is actually two 8-ohm cabs (a Carvin 15" Ext rated at 400w, and a Thunderchild 12" rated at 500w)
I'd prefer to get the max wattage I can into each of them, and so I'm thinking it will be better to put them each on a separate channel, instead of paralleling them as a single 4-ohm load (which would significantly underpower them at 100W each, give or take)
But I'm uncertain of the wattage to expect each channel to provide at 8-ohms, as that's not in the manual...
Yep. Not a good thing to take a chance with- the risk to benefit number is not real good there.
Just received this Peavey Megabass amp today. Great condition,and mounted in a nice roadcase,in great condition. Had these amps down through the years. Been awhile since I used one of these amps.
Noticed high and low range inputs. Any suggestions about high or low range? I have an Ampeg 115 8ohm cabinet to go through.
Still looking to get my Mega cleaned up, but it's occuring to me how good these have sounded at gigs.
Looking forward to setting it atop the fridge and plugging in the Thunderbird...

Just a quick pop in to say there are three working Peavey Mega Bass units for sale on eBay. I was checking in to see what they are selling for these days and thought I'd share. I am down to one, but it still gets use (currently as a second amp during bass lessons). Very cool.

Got a some questions about running one single cabinet to the MegaBass amp. There is a low range and high range. And should I not push the biamp button on the front if just running one cabinet. I just got a 4ohm 115 Peavey cabinet. May sound like a dumb question,but would appreciate any advice.
You didn’t actually ask a question. That being said, with a single 4ohm cab, leave the head in full range, and run one amplifier out into the cabinet. Leave the other side unused
I've got one, also had one years ago. I remember they have a signature I really like, I haven't played this one lately.
This one I got for dirt cheap from a guy out on the Cape who'd had it stored in a garage for ten years. I bright it to my amp guy and he installed a new Pulse Width Modulator Chip and cleaned it up. It's still got the old rusty jack nuts and screw heads.
Anyway I have too many amps and one of them is going... Either a GK 400RB or the Mega. I really miss the lush sound of the Megabass, and the GK doesn't really quite do that. But the GK does have that rail-hitting thing, and I've been playing with a lot of grit and growl lately.
Anyway, here's the old dawg...
