Peavey millennium basses

I was wondering has anyone here played or tried out the old or the new peavey millennium basses? rather if it's bxp(which is passive) or the ac(which is active). the new ones has same features as the old one, only they solid color finishes rather than having the quilt-top finishes. anyways, the reason why I ask is because I've been curious about those basses for a while and was wondering if they're decent bass guitars to own.

BXP I think means its made outside of teh US

I have a Millenium AC BXP 5 string which is really, REALLY good. It has the Cirrus pickups, The build quality is superb, and the fit and finish is flawless. Sounds brill - good tight B string.
Go for it.

I have a Millennium BXP5 from 2005, it's the Indonesian version. The 'crafted in Indonesia' is etched into the back of the headstock.
It's quite a good bass for the money, fairly light, well balanced, passive J style pups, decent B string, sounds good and I have the action fairly low like all my other basses, strings through either body or bridge.

You'll find lots of Peavey love here. The BXP's are good basses from what I hear. I've never played one though.

I have one of these.

Millenium AC BXP.

It was my first decent bass, and I see no reason to get a better one. Simply brilliant. Feel really nice, good thin-ish neck, really good pickups (you'll never need a high gain input with one of these!) and just great overall.
I couldn't recommend it any more highly!

Get one, you wont regret it!

They are solid, low budget active imports. In other words, they'll get the job done, and sound alright.

That said, they not even in the same universe as the old American made Millenniums!

The USA Millenniums are superb in every way. Definitely one of the best basses I've ever owned.

The BXP/asian millenniums...meh. Nothing special, and nothing in common with the USA models. If you want one, get a USA model. I know where there's a beautiful USA 4 string for sale, and I used to own it so I know how good it is. Let me know if you need the info.

Ones Ive examined where overall very good with the exception of what seems to be whole batches of ones with poor fretwork (fret ends sticking out side of the neck). That issue came up a couple times and when it did every one without exception had that problem which makes me say whole batches rather then occassional one. But find one without that problem and they seem to be well made basses worth the price no problem.

For a budget line bass, these are some of the better ones that are out there.

To compare them to the MIA Milleniums of old, is like comparing a cat to a dog.

When the USA Mills are on firesale, it would not be honest for us to comment on the BXP imports... some of them (not all) are stellar when setup correctly

I'd scour to find a Millenium plus... it's worth the few extra bucks.

No way I would buy a BXP when the same money and a little patience will you get a used USA Millennium.

I've recently bought a peavey millennium bxp 4-string bass in a metallic blue finish and it sounds awesome. I really dig how smooth and punchy it sounded. it's a keeper.

I could care less if the bass is made in china. the only thing that matters to me is if the bass sounds awesome. and the bass does sound awesome indeed. like I've mentioned before, the bass has a smooth punchy sound. and F.Y.I, the bass is hand-crafted in Indonesia. I understand that you guys suggested that I should find a u.s.a peavey millennium bass and I appreciate the suggestion, but really I'm satisfied with what I've purchased. thanks for the suggestion though. peavey makes awesome bass guitars.

The only disadvantage of the USA Millenniums is the 35" scale. Otherwise, they're boutique quality basses. I've played a few BXP Millenniums and I'd say they're about the same quality as a MIM Fender.

USA Millenniums are really nice. The build is amazing.
I don't see the 35" scale as a negative.
The tone is good, but to me a little darker than most.
I've been loving how mine plays, but the tone has got me struggling a bit.
Crossed my mind to sell it.....but I probably won't.
Just stick it under the bed and come back to it later.

That said, I have yet to play a USA Peavey I didn't like.
