There are obviously a fair amount of us players that ha even pleaded with past Peavey offerings and sine are even loyal users. And that's what keeps a few of us to hang and wait. But I have to admit two more weeks and I'm going Ashdown,
Wouldn't be a bad choice in my opinion. I recently just scored my first Ashdown head, a MiBass 2.0. It doesn't have all of the features that the Peavey is possibly going to have but Man, does this little amp sound good! Being easy on my pocket was an added bonus....
How about today Peavey? Tomorrow? NAMM 2016? When will you finally start to ship....
I'm hoping we can do letter than that. If all goes to plan, we will be releasing the Mini Mega to mass production next week...we are pushing the button.
I wonder if Peavey over-innovated themselves in to a hole on this one. Probably can't deliver the Mini-Mega wattage and features at the intended price point. Could be engineering issues or production but either way it's not the end of the world. Yeah I find it a little annoying that Peavey seems to do this more and more these days but we will all live another day if the Mini-mega doesn't show up.
I wish the Mini Mega was my only responsibility so that I could have gotten it out there sooner. The biggest holdup has been my power section (PV1000 module). As of now, it is used in 10 new products, is slated to be used in at least 5 more, and is on the table to be sold as an OEM power module to select companies. The design went through many revisions, more than I've ever had to do on any single design in the past. The biggest challenge when it comes to designing a high power class D amp is EMC, or electro-magnetic compatibility...in the USA, that means FCC testing. On top of that, the PV1000 module has to pass EMC testing with no shielding at all because the packaging of some of the products don't allow for it. I'm here to tell you that's damn hard. I am happy to say that I figured out how to make it happen, and we have been releasing a lot of products.
The module is rated at 1000W because that's what it puts out continuously into a resistive dummy load. Not many power amps are rated that way anymore. When playing music, it puts out 1500W into a speaker load. 1500W would be the rating if we used modern rating practices. Delivering the power at the price point is not the issue.
There is an engineering issue. On top of designing this module and others, and helping with guitar amps, and helping with customer service, the entire bass amp/cab product line is my responsibility. I'm only one guy.![]()

Once production starts, how long before the first units hit the shelf?
