I have a feeling that it's the first production rather than the "prototype" but it certainly is a pretty great chance to acquire the first of the breed.
So where do the 8M numbers fit in. I'm confused too
Adjust the strings or neck! The G is not even on the fretboard. Why is this always missed??
That rings a bell, I think I remember hearing about these "0" samples on the old T-40 forum. Definitely quite a find and would definitely be a Holy Grail if not for...It's not strictly a prototype, but one of a *very* few pre-production samples that were sent to dealers. Finding one of these (especially in that condition) is like finding the Holy Grail if you're a T-40 collector.
Didn't notice that at first. Very disappointing. Not something I'd be likely to buy right now, but I'd be extremely tempted if not for neck/bridge issues. As is, given the choice I'd much rather have my very nice condition '79 (all the same features) than a jacked neck dealer sample. My T-40 gets played! That headstock is way north of the body too, looking at the side profile pics. Like a huge forward bow....
Probably true, though with the neck issue I'd be surprised if it goes much past the starting bid. No watchers or bids yet, though it is still very early. And the starting bid isn't too far out of wack either.

Are you being serious? $1,000 for a T-40 seems insane to me, even if it is rare or an oddball... I would swear this guy had to be a TBer because nowhere else on the planet sees the value in old Peaveys.
It would have seemed odd to me too, except that recently I checked the "sold" listings in Ebay. T-40's in good condition are selling for $450-600. I think folks outside of TB have discovered T-40's. $1000 is alot, but as this is a rare sample example, double the cost doesn't seem totally out of line. Or at least it wouldn't be if the neck, bridge and strings were aligned. Are you being serious? $1,000 for a T-40 seems insane to me, even if it is rare or an oddball...
