Peavey T-40 Question

How exactly do the volume controls on the T-40 work? Do they go from humbucker into a single coil mode after about 8 on the volume? I was test driving one today, and the tone seems to radically change around that point on the volume knob. I remember reading somewhere that something was different in the way the T 40 p/u's work. Also what does the two way switch do? Flicked the switch down, and it got real thin sounding. Coil tap maybe? Any help would be great.

The TONE knobs switch the pups from humbukers to single coils at around "7" and up. The two way switch throws the two pups out of phase with each other. This effects lower frequencies more than upper, leading to a ver thin sound.

Just test driving right now. Haven't gone for it yet.

I like it, bit I'm not totaly sold on it yet. I want to try it agian. Now that I have a better idea of how the controls work, I can make a better evaluation of weather or not it will work for me. Seemed like it had some potential. The other odd thing was that what the manual is calling a phase switch was thining the sound out on the individual pickup settings as well as when both were on. The manual seemed to say that this only worked with both pick ups on. Maybe the wiring has been messed around with.

There are 1 or 2 posts in the Peavey T-40 Club thread with the manual. I'd go looking for you, but I'm a lazy bastard!:D

I'm still getting to know my T-40. I've had it for about 3 weeks now. Haven't changed the strings yet. Although a lot of people think it's useless, I like the phase switch. For some of the stuff I play, it works!

I have only played one briefly, but I recall this behavior as well. I could be wrong, but I think this is normal behavior. Don't ask me how! The T-40 is a magical thing.

I just retrieved that from the site. As for the T-60 page (http://www.peaveyt60.com/) it seems to have crashed so I'll see when and where I can get the schematic up.
