Hello good people
So I am in a dilemma atm. Don’t know what to do. A guy did approach me regarding a swap deal for my G&L Tribute L2000. He wants to swap his Peavey T40 and he unfortunately lives on the other side of the country.
What do you think I should do? Should I go for it or not?

Thanks

Honestly for me personally it would depend on the neck( is it straight, twisted, is the truss rod functioning)…all the parts seem to be there… does it have a hairline crack on the rear of the headstock by the E string?… sounds to good to be true unless you could see it in person.. I’d pass

Am I correct in understanding your G & L L2000 is a ‘Tribute’ model meaning it is made in Asia and not the L2000 MIA? If so I’d jump on the T-40 in a heartbeat. Just make sure it’s all original and functioning as it should.

Because of the age and unknown wear of the Peavey I would not trade unseen. If there’s a way to try it then the T40 may be worth more if it’s the right fit for you. But I’d probably walk unless you just prefer the Peavey.
Ridiculous that I didn't notice you said Tribute.
Might be worth it depending on how the T-40 plays and sounds.
I was actually ready to buy one for $1,000 last year...an exceptionally clean one from Chicago Music Exchange.[/QUOT

Yes, it’s a Tribute model

Now if you said Ibanez or Cort then everyone would say do it.

But the Tribute is made by Cort.
Most Ibanez’ are made by Cort also.

Tribute G&L's were made in Korea by Cort Guitars using USA hardware, and electronics in many of the guitars. Some non-original parts were also used on value-based models, such as those sold exclusively through Guitar Center.

I've owned plenty of T-40s but I'd pass on this sight unseen trade.

The guy probably says it's a great player but I wonder how he knows. Strings are a mixed bag and the intonation is off , neither inspire confidence in the guy's opinion.
Why is there a hole at the 20th fret ? Bone dry rosewood board does give some protection against glue seam split , ask them for photos with the back of the neck just to make sure.

Urban legend that won’t go away. They’re not all heavy and some Fender Jazz bass standards are heavier but no one dares poo poo the almighty Leo
Yeah, I guess you’re right.

I didn’t even seen the hole on the 20th fret! The only way I would swap it is to try it myself, but I might ask for more pics as you suggested.
