Peavey TNT100 + VT?

Anyone ever paired a 1970's Peavey tnt 100 with a VT bass? I've been lusting for a VT bass since the second they hit the market, but wonder if it'd sound good with my combo, since I cannot bypass the preamp. Conversely, what distortion/od/fuzz type pedals work well with this amp?

You can run it in front of the amp, just watch the lows and the gains. Those old 100's with the square magnet speaker will fart out quick if you're not careful, but sound pretty darn good if you don't try to make them do more than they can handle.

Damn Will, you're fast becoming my go-to answer man for all questions concerning my amp :D I mean, it's pretty clean before clipping, and the speaker does, as you say, sound great until it bottoms out. Which, by the way, I finally got my speaker to fart......requires more volume than I'll need for a while :)

I used to play one of those TNt100's with that speaker in it at practice all the time. Could get some really nice sound out of that speaker....until it came time to keep up with a rock drummer and a Marshall.....then it was a bee's nest.:D

I've had a couple more of those speakers come and go, might still have one somewhere around here, don't know. If not, I'll find one. It would make a great sounding home playing/back porch jam speaker for my Valve Jr. They were only like 100 watts, not a lot of deep bass bit real nice tone. It was something Peavey sourced from Eminence back then before they made Black Widows, or at least put the BW's in everything. Got me some BW's, like those too, and a T-MAX, and a Classic400.....I like Peavey....don't even take the logo's off.:D

They've made a few gems over the years and I have the pleasure of owning a couple.
