Peavey Tour 450/700

Anyone ever tried one? There are NO reviews of these things on the internet...

I wish it had a compressor or envelope filter instead of the octave thingie, I think, but it looks like a great head for the price.

saw a 450 in a shop lately. the upper part of the housing is a bot loose, not screwed, and rattles like crazy when the amp sits on top of a cab that is being played through.
likely easy to solve but a design flaw anyway.

That's probably a problem with that particular unit, not a design flaw.

I can't believe nobody has one of these...

Also the heights can be proportioned well! Octaver: very cleanly other one does not work also up to the Fis down, more can! DDT: this switch activates a very effective Limiter, which becomes necessary above all if one demands from the Amp too much! It limits the achievement of the output stage hardly noticeably! Mad feature negative: the aster cracks in the signal - so which is uncool and I might not seem to the Amp a very good cost-performance ratio would nevertheless certify in the year 2006 any longer.

I have messed around with the Tour 700 in the local GC's and a local music store thats a Peavey dealer. Every one I played with was hooked up to the Tour 2 X 10 and 1 X 15 cabinets.

I kinda like them. I have been able to get some nice tones out of them. I don't care much for the "Octaver" feature. Not that it's bad I just don't find it useful. I would probably never use it. I think it makes it harder to dial in a tone I like when it's on. Once you dial in what you like and then turn on the octaver it seems to mess up what you have. Thats just MHO. If I was in the market I would seriously consider the 700. I have not seen any build quality issues and the ones I played have never had any loose parts or rattles.

They don't have that super heavy-duty / over-built feel of previous Peavey gear. They are much smaller and much more modern looking than the previous Max heads. They actually seem a little fragile to me which is a departure from the usual ugly but built like tank approach Peavey had in the past. I'm not sure if I like that. The sliders on the EQ seem like they will break easy but again, I'm comparing them to past Peavey gear. It's too early to say how they will hold up.

It's not a bad head for the money.

Nope, mine does the same thing on top of my Peavey 4x10... The top panel rattles like a bitch.

I tried using electrical tape to secure the crevices where I thought the rattling may be coming from, but to no avail. What gives Peavey? Anyone have any ideas on what to do about this? There is no loose hardware, I checked it all. If I rest my hand on top of the panel the rattling will cease. What were they thinking? Did they not test this amp before putting it on the market? Seriously, how could they have not noticed that... Ridiculous. For now I'll just keep my beer on top of it

Mine also does this ontop of my cab. I just put some broken pics into the tiny opening of the lid and it seems to have stopped the rattling. That's honestly my only complaint about this head.
